Now the idea of being pregnant has taken hold (of your whole life) and you’ve packed your hospital bag it’s time to start thinking about what will soon become the cutest dam room in your home – the nursery!
To begin with your baby may be sleeping in your room so the nursery may not seem completely necessary to organise just yet. However, it’s always best to be as prepared as possible before your baby arrives and it is important to have a space to retreat to in the middle of the night to feed and change away from your sleeping partner (or so I’ve been told!)
If you’ve looked in any baby shops or searched the pages of Pinterest for some nursery inspo you will be in agreement that there is just SO MUCH to choose from and everything is just so bloody cute! It’s been really hard not to buy everything I’ve seen but with two babies to buy for I have had to be sensible and reign myself in by focusing on the real life essentials.
The Feeding Chair
The Cot or Cot Bed
Soft lighting from a table/floor lamp for bed time and night feeds
Night light to help soothe your baby
Chest of drawers for all their clothes, muslins, hats, sheets….
Shelves to keep those precious keepsakes, cuddly toys and books
With so much to choose from it is definitely hard to narrow it down to exactly what you will need. However, from speaking with many mama’s and mama’s-to-be I think I’ve managed to nail down the real essentials, which I hope will help you too. Are there any that I’ve missed?
