The other Saturday Simon and I had a shopping day. Now this may not seem like anything out of the ordinary for most but for us this is a rarity. You see Simon is not a shopper, don’t get me wrong he has great taste (obviously!) but he doesn’t like to “linger”. So I took full advantage of his offer to go shopping together and inevitably on this trip we stopped for a bite to eat for lunch.
After having heard that a new restaurant had opened on Orchard road serving tasty brunch food we decided to head there and try it out to sustain us in between malls.
The Providore opened earlier this month and is an advocate for both locally and internationally sourced produce and high quality ingredients. Situated in the Mandarin Gallery on the second floor this relaxed restaurant is perfect for a spot of brunch, lunch or an afternoon cake. The weekend brunch menu is served until 3pm.
Unfortunately though it’s joined the bandwagon of a lot of new restaurants that are popping up at the moment where they have a no reservation policy. Is it just me or does the idea of risking having to queue for longer than 5 minutes completely turn you off a place!! (Soo English!) This aside (and luckily no queue) the food was really delicious – we ordered the steak sandwich and the smoked salmon sandwich which were really scrummy.
After having found this gem I will definitely be heading back another weekend for brunch.
Let me know if you have any recommendations for me.
