Last bank holiday weekend we visited Langkawi for the second time for some weekend relaxation and R&R on the beach. We first visited the island back in 2013 for Simon’s very special 30th birthday and we absolutely loved it so didn’t hesitate in heading back for some more Malaysian hospitality.
This time around we chose to stay in a different resort and decided upon the Datai, one of the most popular resorts on the island. This rainforest retreat allowed us to experience the beautiful scenery of the northern shores of the island and also the island’s animal side!
During our stay we took ourselves off to the Datai Spa for a relaxing two-hour full body massage. We walked along the elevated open walkways to our treatment villa to find it only had 3 walls and the back wall was completely open to the rainforest and monkeys who had gathered there in search of some sweet orchids to eat! There was a very nosey monkey in particular who seemed to want to stay and watch until he got bored and launched himself onto an unsuspecting female (if you catch my drift) and then swung off (after approximately 1 minute!) making what sounded like a very smug war cry! And this was all before we had even taken off our robes! Anyway, I digress… the massage was excellent and left us feeling thoroughly relaxed. Be sure to book ahead as the spa was fully booked all weekend.
Despite a bit of rain on the Sunday we were so glad we got to experience the silky white sands and turquoise waters of Langkawi again. Until next time…
