This leads me nicely onto the food we sampled. To start, we decided to go Asian and order some Japanese mixed yakitori and a Thai dish called Naem Gai.
This platter was rather a spectacle when it arrived on the table due to the gorgeous looking desserts and dry ice spilling over the silver tray and across the table creating a whimsical feel to the dish. My favourite had to be the salted caramel and chocolate pot, decorated to look like a miniature flowerpot. This dessert had layer upon layer of gooey salted caramel and chocolate soil topped with berries. The Grand Cru chocolate mousse was also a highlight (are you detecting a chocolate theme here), however this was very rich tasting so I couldn’t eat too much of this on top of all the other desserts I had left to try. These consisted of a Grand marnier soufflé, Pavlova and a selection of sorbet and ice cream.
Overall, we had a great evening at Mezza9 and will definitely be back again to sample more from their extensive menu along with a second hit of that flowerpot dessert!
