Happy Mother’s Day to all the beautiful mothers around the world, especially to my own wonderful mother. Wish I could be there to celebrate with you today.
Being Mother’s Day in the UK it got me thinking about how important our mum’s are in shaping our lives with their words of wisdom (even if we don’t ways think it at the time) so I asked a few of my friends to share their mum’s best piece of advice along with my own.
My mum the seasoned shopper has always said If you don’t absolutely love it then just don’t buy it and after having purchased a few dubious items which have gathered dust at the back of my wardrobe still with the labels on, eBay and I have realized she is right.
A staple in the Waring household has always been “Treat others how you wish to be treated yourself”, something I have always strived to do.
And one that had a profound effect on me when she imparted this piece of wisdom is to never underestimate how good it feels to know that someone is completely yours. So simple yet so true.
Chrissy’s mum has always told her to be kind to herself and to try not to worry as everything has a habit of turning out all right in the end. I think I’ll be taking this one too….what’s that old saying….it will all come out in the wash.
My friend KB said her mum has regular nuggets of advice for her but two of her favourites are: Never go out wearing something that you don’t feel like you don’t look good in – it will ruin your night. So true! And another is to take chances and don’t have any regrets – ‘if you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always be what you’ve always been’. Wise words Mrs B, wise words.
Emma said her mum has always told her to be herself and not be worried about being different. I couldn’t agree more, who wants to be ‘normal’!!
Cat’s mum has always provided some very practical advice for cat; don’t lose your phone, say no to drugs and always follow your dreams. And I would say seeing as cat has just finished 5 months traveling without losing her phone and has a job in tv which she loves that those pearls of wisdom were pretty spot on!
Have a wonderful day!
Let me know if your mum has any wise words for us 🙂
