Since having kids my ability to “get things done” has slowed drastically. So much so I am publishing this New Year 2019 post two weeks late. In my defense, during those two weeks I have survived jet lag with 15-month-old twins who just like Mr Ritchie want to play ALL NIGHT LONG.
One of my new year resolutions is to begin working a little more and trying to find the holy grail all new parents search for – a balanced life between spending meaningful time with our incredible kids and working to stretch our minds.
So in the spirit of a new year and because I was gifted this beautiful book I would like to share this poem called Promise by Jackie Kay, which embodies a fresh start.
Remember, the time of year
when future appears
like a blank sheet of paper
a clean calendar, a new chance.
On thick white snow
you vow fresh footprints
then watch them go
with the wind’s hearty gust.
Fill your glass. Here’s tae us. Promises
made to be broken, made to last.
Jackie is the current Scottish Poet Laureate.
Let me know if you would like to hear more beautiful poetry like this… thanks to the book I do have 365 to choose from 😉
Happy New Year 2019!
