So in homage to me getting in the Christmas spirit and wanting to spread the Christmas cheer, here is a little insight into what I love about Christmas…
1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?
There are two! Home Alone 2 in New York and Miracle on 34th Street, both of these never fail to put a smile on my face and get me thoroughly into the Christmas mood. Although, having said that I am a real sucker for all Christmas movies.
2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
Definitely Christmas Morning. I open my stocking first with my brother before heading downstairs for the biggies! All after helping Mum with the Turkey prep of course and a spot of breakfast in the form of smoked salmon on toast. Yum!
3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
This is a tough one as I have so many wonderful Christmas memories but a couple do come to mind. The first one is driving back from Christmas shopping with my mum, singing some old Christmas songs at the top of our voices, you know the weird ones like “all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth” and finding it all hysterically funny.
The second is pretty much every Christmas morning growing up my brother and I would be awake very early, I’m talking around 5/6am (funny as we’re definitely not morning people usually). Whereas, my grandpa who lived with us was very much a morning person and he was always awake around that time. I remember one particular Christmas where we went into his room and sat on his bed as he showed us lots of old photographs of his childhood and finding the sweetest picture of him at about ten years old, which I now treasure on my bedside table.
4. Favourite festive food?
Pigs in blankets! Zero hesitation there.
5. Favourite Christmas gift?
Another tricky question, thinking back over the years and the presents I have been very lucky to receive I would have to say one particularly sticks out in my mind. I must have been about 10 years old and I remember waking up about 5am and sneaking downstairs in the dark to get a sneak peak of what Santa had bought before being caught by my Grandpa and told to wait and not ruin the surprise, he was right it was worth waiting for my bright pink mountain bike.
6. Favourite Christmas scent?
Mulled wine warming on the stove and my mum’s perfume.
7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
For the past 8 years or so, my mum, dad, brother and I all wrap up warm and go out for a nice dinner on Christmas Eve, which is now even more special as I live in Singapore. I love this time with them getting to catch up and spend quality time together.
8. What tops your tree?
I’m an angel kind of girl.
9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
This is more my brother’s domain – remember the quad bike Rich?! I guess my one extravagant request was a pet…it was a cat for awhile but seeing as I have later found out I am allergic to cat hair it was probably a wise choice not to indulge me on this from mum and dad.
10. What’s the best part about Christmas for you?
Absolutely all of it!!!!
